The gut microbiota

A living world.
Nourish it every day.

What we eat also nourishes some of the microorganisms that live within us. Welcome to the world of prebiotics.

THE GUT, OUR SECOND BRAIN

A constant dialogue
between your gut and your brain.

Your gut has its own nervous system and is home to billions of microorganisms. Through neural, immune and metabolic pathways, this inner world communicates continuously with your brain.

A living world, a network in motion

The microbiota comprises the microorganisms in the gut. The enteric nervous system contains hundreds of millions of neurons and coordinates digestion.

The vagus nerve and other pathways connect this local activity to the brain in a two-way dialogue shaped by digestion, hunger and satiety.

PREbiotics

Their food.

Substances used by certain microorganisms with a documented benefit. Inulin and oligofructose are among the fibres studied in this field.

PRObiotics

Living organisms.

Live microorganisms that provide a benefit in an appropriate amount. Baobab Forte provides inulin and oligofructose, prebiotic fibres that nourish certain gut bacteria.

Life also begins within

Prebiotics.
Nourish the life
within you.

Your gut flora, or microbiota, is home to a whole world of microorganisms. They need nourishment too.

Inulin and oligofructose are prebiotic fibres. Some gut bacteria use them as food, which is what makes prebiotics so interesting.

Baobab Forte combines baobab pulp with inulin, oligofructose, pectin, konjac gum and polydextrose. Inulin and oligofructose are added separately from the fruit.

Variety,
day after day.

Vegetables, fruit, pulses and whole grains: a varied plate remains the foundation for your microbiota.

01

You eat

Foods provide different fibres.

02

The microbiota uses them

Some fibres are fermented in the colon.

03

Life communicates

This fermentation can produce short-chain fatty acids.
